1st September 2026 : Inauguration of the Lycée-Collège Ella Maillart in Sion. Open House on 19 Sep 2026.

After four and a half years of construction, the Lycée-Collège Ella Maillart (middle and high school) in Sion was inaugurated on September 1, 2026, in the presence of State Councilors Christophe Darbellay and Franziska Biner, as well as the mayor of Sion, Philippe Varone and Romaine Crettenand Sierro, LCEM’s director. The building now replaces the Collège Planta, which closed last June. The project was launched in 2017. With a floor area of 8,000 m², the building can accommodate 1,350 students. It includes 69 standard classrooms and 23 specialized classrooms dedicated to art, music, biology, and chemistry. In addition, there are four sports halls, an auditorium seating 540 people, and a cafeteria with 500 seats. An open house will be held at the LCEM on September 19, 2026.
